Who gets the property after the last mainline protestant converts/dies? Does it go to the state?

When you preach from "Psychology Today" instead of the Bible, why should anyone listen to you???

Well, we couldn't keep the Enlightenment under wraps forever.

Some of these "churches" have reduced themselves to nothing but social clubs, so there is no reason for people to show up because they believe in nothing. If people want to just be part of a social club, there are plenty of those that people can go to and sleep in on Sunday mornings.

Now....if only Conservative Judaism can do what fundamentalist and evangelical Christianity did.

I think my denomination can learn a lot from their example.

But those times are long past. Today, the opposite is occurring as secular culture defines mainline churches' dialogue on everything from social issues to politics and morality, tellingly shown this summer at the emotional and acrimonious national gatherings of the Presbyterian Church USA and the Episcopal Church.

Why bother going to a church to get the secular view on moral issues?

"Huge membership declines in the Presbyterian Church USA, United Methodist Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Episcopal Church have sapped their collective strength."

The good news is that the anti-Christian leaders of these denominations are imploding. The pontificating by these heresy purveyors reaches fewer ears every year.

Giving to a mainline church is giving to terrorists and communists. They are vile entities that have repudiated the very teachings on which they are based.

Well aren't orthodox Jewish congregations doing that?

That's easy. A big ole pickup truck with a carpenter's toolbox in the bed and a "LIVE BETTER/FOLLOW ME" bumper sticker.

The mainline churches will ultimately embrace gay culture. Of course, by then the gays and the ultra-left wing Christians will be the only ones attending.

Well, we couldn't keep the Enlightenment under wraps forever.

Not with people like you, who are a walking, squalking advertisement for all of its splendors.

I think this is actually a problem: one used to be able to find a community of believers without having to drive an hour out to the suburbs to flee getting political sermons and liturgy.

Most of today's evangelism takes place at "MegaChurches", complete with TV ministries, etc. Unless you can congregate at a small, Bible-study group (usually during the workweek, away from family), what feeds spirituality?

Where do Catholics, Mormons and Orthodox Christians stand in this?

No! He drove a Honda. But he didn't like to talk about it. "I did not speak of my own Accord." John 12:29.

I think He left it to the Apostles . . . they were "in one Accord." Acts 5:12
