Lol, let me see the evil communist China has 55 million Chinese women illiterate. Thats like 4% of their population. If added the male illiteracy rate, probably it is no more than 8%.

Now how much the largest democracy, India which supposedly have a better educational system. What are their literacy rate? Can someone help me out here?

From CIA world factbook:

China -
Population - 1,313,973,713 as of july 1st, 2006
Literacy:
definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 90.9%
male: 95.1%
female: 86.5% (2002)

INDIA -
Population 1,095,351,995 as of July, 2006

Literacy:
definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 59.5%
male: 70.2%
female: 48.3% (2003 est.) <------ OUCH

USA --
Population 298,444,215 July 2006

Literacy:
definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 99%
male: 99%
female: 99% (2003 est.)

So India's literacy is far below that of China. 50+% of women can't read/write, that's about 250 milliion people right there.
