I love hydroelectric power. If I were in charge, we'd be generating from every river and stream of adequate size.

Could be that's why you're not in charge. Call them environuts if you will, but there's other things that are important that depend on a free-flowing stream of water in a river.

The old fashioned water wheels only used part of a stream to run the wheel. The rest could run free.

Wouldn't there be some way to install generating devices in a portion of a stream or river that would not block the entire river.
