I love all of these "I told you so" tsk-tskers who are so unsympathetic to fellow citizens who are being held hostage by a foreign government. The funny thing is that it isn't Hizbollah that prevents us from leaving Beirut; it is our staunchest ally.

You've seemed to have fallen in love with this phrase. If you were being 'held hostage' by Israel, you'd be on a plane home by now. To hold someone hostage, they have to have control over you. The only nation that can walk up to you right now and place you under their control is Lebanon. And it was a lack of action on the part of the Lebanese government which led to this fiasco.

I understand your impatience, I'm sympathetic towards your desire for more information, but I'm also a realist. You're just as much a hostage target today as you were a week ago. Arrangements are being made, action is being taken. In the mean time, realize that you're in relative safety with probably better communication than the majority of Americans who became stranded.

Israel isn't preventing you from leaving Beirut, and they certainly aren't holding you hostage. Until you made these two statements, I felt sorry for you, but the reality is that you're just whining crybaby blaming everybody but the people who started this and yourself for placing yourself in a dangerous situation in the first place.
