Edward M. Burke, who has served on the Chicago City Council since 1969, when cooking oil was just cooking oil, is pressing his colleagues to make it illegal for restaurants to use oils that contain trans fats, which have been tied to a string of health problems, including clogged arteries and heart attacks.

Ed Burke has always been good for a laugh. The sick thing is that folks like this have a means of imposing their own scruples on others.

I saw this show about "taxis" on HBO. Apparently you get in this car and tell the driver every perverted thing you did or are doing that night, and over the course of your life for that matter, and you get filmed and they show it on TV. I think they even drive you someplace.

I live in the Midwest. We get heat every summer, and yet very few people die in Iowa or Nebraska because of the heat. Yet, in Chicago, it is an emergency and people don't know enough to drink water and get cool.

I've just about had it with this nanny state garbage. This article has gotten me hungry for some artery-clogging "evil" food. I'm going to Rutt's Hutt after work for some rippers (hot dogs) and a cold beer.

For those not from "joisey" (I hate that phrase, BTW), Rutt's Hutt is a famous hot dog stand here in North jersey where they deep fry their hot dogs. Their ain't nothing better in the world.
