TY. Excellent points, all. I guess I'm still a bit concerned about the IED threat, based on the fact that our boys in Iraq are still vexed as it seems they are quickly planted and obviously very hard to detect.

A follow-on: Can armor move well through areas that are heavily cratered by the arty prep?

It will be interesting to see... the Izzies have done some great work with IED detection/removal. Some of it they've shared with us. Generally nobody shares everything.

That comes down to ordnance choice and fusing, with the right choices you can generate sufficient concussion to detonate the mines without making the ground impassable. I'm making the assumption that the IDF has access to any and all available types of ordnance.
An IED needs to be placed close enough to a track that they know you will take to be effective. Most of them will require remote detonation and in an area that has been recently targeted a doofus hanging around with a cell phone in his hand might as well have a bullseye on his forehead.
