Elements of the U.S. Navy's 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean will be moved to offshore points along the coast of Lebanon. If the situation deteriorates further they will set up and execute evacuation plans for stranded Americans caught in Lebanon that desire to leave. This is part of the reason the Navy's 6th Fleet maintains a presence in that part of the world ... for this type of contingency.

"they will set up and execute evacuation plans for stranded Americans"
"Execute" is the operative word. All embassies have detailed evac plans at all times. It's already done.
Evacs are a last ditch situation. Rebel_yell, make sure you're on a warden's list or reachable by the embassy if at all possible. The embassy's Wardens message says register here, if you're not already:
http://travelregistration.state.gov

Don't count on some sort of immediate evac ("calvary coming over the hill"), they'll wait until it's absolutely necessary, and not a minute before.
