The link you posted said that the boat passed down the Mississippi. Does anyone know what route it took to get from Manitowoc to the river?

Across Lake Superior and down the St. Lawrence. The subs drew too much water to get through the locks so Manitowoc built a special hybrid ship and floating drydock to carry the boats (a submarine is a boat) to deep water.

If you get to Manitowoc visit Cobia. Two patrols against the Japanese, as I recall, and even the original vacuum tubes are still plugged into her radars. The lady is treated with respect in Manitowoc.
