“Jesus never said one word about homosexuality, never said one word about civil marriage or abortion,” said Dr. Edgar to CBS News at a recent gathering of liberal Christian leaders in Washington.

Never said one word about ending the war in Iraq, either, but that doesn't seem to be stopping you from speaking for His intentions.

The Bible doesn't record Him ever saying anything about kidnapping either, so I guess that is okay too.

These idiots need to learn that arguments from silence are invalid. They also need to figure out the concept of "the whole counsel of God."

He never said anything about protecting the environment, either. And He said that eradicating poverty is impossible.

Dr. Edgar needs to read the Bible again ... he seems a bit unclear on the concept.

you know what that argument will get you, right? they'll bring up the "turn the other cheek" argument, and the "thou shall not kill" argument- not truly understanding what those passages mean, using translations that suit their needs (kill instead of murder for example) and ignoring passages elswhere that back them up or explain them further.
of course they'll still be wrong, but what do they care? they have half a verse that suits their needs.

One thing that is very clear to me is that when Roman soldiers converted, they were not asked to leave the service. It seems to me that Jesus was about anything BUT politics and things of this earth.

We look to the OT for basic values and standards because in Jesus' time, those principles and values were assumed. And the OT DOES say a few things about Homosexuality. Jesus built on them and fulfilled them, he did not toss them out the window.
