* "Migrations [from farm to city] in India and elsewhere in Africa and Asia cannot be sustained at today's Western standard of living. Even at one car per family, without air conditioning and supermalls, the world's environment cannot survive the onslaught." A lot of that migration in India and China is being driven by massive outsourcing of e-business (including IT) and the making of cheap junk. Would this guy support aggressive protectionism to take this stuff back to America? Or does he also hate America too much to do that.

Ah the Socialist Professor's dream would be to house the workers in government approved housing, tax them 80% and provide a utopia of government sponsored "to each according to their needs" benefits. Western standard of living be damned.

Protectionism would be a tool used by some one who hates America since it lowers our standard of living and makes life more expensive to Americans especially lower income Americans.
