The term applied to Lincoln was liberal. Its a contemporary political term. However, Lincoln was NO liberal. The closest thing to classic liberal in todays political environment is called a libertarian. Lincoln was no libertarian either. I'd say Lincoln was a classic Republican. Rudy Giuliani is a leftwing liberal.

Actually, Lincoln was a libertarian. He certainly wasn't going to use the government to interfere in people's personal and economic lives. I remember a quote from him, saying that anything should be permissible, as long as a man does not harm another person.

By the way, do you have any proof that Rudy is a fiscal liberal, like the President?

Whatever label you want to pin on him, there is no disputing that Abraham Lincoln trampled on the Constitution, instituted the income tax, denied habeas corpus, and fomented a war that cost 600,000 American lives.

The Democrats and the RINOS love to worship at the altar of Abraham, which should be instructive enough.

He was our worst President, by far.
