I was the national political director for a candidate who got over a million votes in the primaries, and who had the power to help hold the right flank of the party in the general election.
Karl Rove would have been stupid and negligent NOT to offer me a job at that point in the war against the Dems in November.
I know this cuts against the picture you try to paint of me, "Tex", but I turned him down and did the job for free anyway, because I believed it to be in the best interests of our country. Still do.
And I don't regret later taking on the role of administration critic or even opponent when it was necessary, either.
