What went on in the finances of MMP was bad. Simcox better finish the fence he started or someone will notice and ask questions about that money.
Simcox is a mental case. His own daughter accused him of fondling her, and he's had numerous run ins with law enforcement over carrying guns when he shouldn't have been.
Sounds like some are already asking about it

Trust but verify? Simcox just killed himself with that cocky "We don't bend to those kind of requests and accusations." He obviously has something to hide.
How is Chris' org set up? Is there a board where the Minutemen can divorce themselves from Simcox? What is Jim Gilchrist's relationship to all of this?
The idea of a volunteer border patrol is still sound. No one needs Simcox. This story is going to go national and the sooner the better.
