It's the second half of the season, so TNT (and to a lesser extent, NBC) return to the TV mix. This half will be NBC's swan song for NASCAR and TNT's swan song for the Busch Series.
We've got a full slate of racing this weekend, as the Busch boys and Buschwhackers run a 3/4ers race Saturday afternoon, and the Truck boys and girls run over at Kentucky Saturday night.
ha ha 500
Not a fan of GWC, but it's there supposedly because the fans wanted it. Everyone has to figure on it happening sooner or later.
Grandson's remarks, "Pa, why do they keep adding laps?", on watching the additional laps hit the scoring pole at TMS Busch race this year.
Hosts swaller they tongues. LOL!!!
Aside - I just found out today that the corporation I work in has a fantasy league. And that I would be in first place. And they play for money.
NASCAR Nation cannot have it both ways. Either you're on board for hard-nosed racing, or settle into the La-Z-Boy for more neutered racing.
Jeff Gordon's late-race tactic was no different than those utilized by Dale Earnhardt, and for all those who complain about NASCAR being vanilla in the years since Earnhardt's death, Sunday should have been a feel good flashback to the glory days.
Speaking of Gordon, he'll top the $75 million mark in career earnings on Sunday. Entering New Hampshire he has won $74,895,269. In case you're curious, Richard Petty took home $8,541,210 in his 35-year career. And for what it's worth, Gordon is still a few weeks shy of even turning 35 years old.
I was listening to the team radio. What really happened is that Tony, Jr. refused to make one of the changes Junior wanted. That was the alleged "wrong adjustment."
Duane Cross wonders -- "Why was it OK for Dale Earnhardt to bump a rival out of the way to win a race, but when Jeff Gordon does it, fans throw a fit or worse?"
I'll take a shot at that one and try to help you out! When Dale, Sr. did it, it was at 80mph, coming out of a corner at Bristol, where there is virtually no other way to pass.
When Jeff Gordon did it, it was at 140mph, going into a corner at Chicagoland, which has four grooves for passing.
Dale, Sr. was in a situation where he could not pass without bumping, and the bumping was not done to deliberately wreck the other guy, although it sometimes did happen. Flash was in a situation where he could have passed Robot cleanly (he is the greatest driver ever, correct?), and by giving the bump where he did in the turn deliberately punted Robot into the infield.
I am not a fan of Flash or Robot, so I have no dog in this fight. And I enjoy watching the bump-n-run at Bristol! But like Shrub (Kyle Busch) said, "(For reasons of safety because of the high mph) There is no place for it on the 1.5 milers."
Now that I answered your question, will you answer mine? How convoluted is it for the #24 fans to blame the #17 for the wreck?! Yup, yup, yup, Robot wanted to lose. No? Ahh, then it must have been a conspiracy by Robot to make Flash look bad. Still no? There has to be some reason Robot wanted to wreck, because Flash wouldn't have deliberately caused it!
Jeff Gordon said -- "He can say whatever about payback. I'm not going to question it because whether it is or whether it isn't, it's not even an issue anymore. What happened at Bristol, it happened -- just like what happened here. It's a non-issue. It's racing."
O-K. If it is "just racing," and "a non-issue (not worthy of payback)," and "just like what happened at Bristol" then why did you get out of your car at Bristol and shove him? Me thinks you're trying to have it both ways!
Thing is - the drama builds. Goes around - payback - and whatnot.
Zhang Baoxiu, a farmer, shows an odd duck with 4 legs at Minzhu village in Zaozhuang city, east China's Shandong Province, July 7, 2006. Zhang Baoxiu bought a duck in June, 2006. The duck has four legs, two of 4 webbed feet are normal, and the others grow together. The duck can walk on land and swim in the water like other normal ducks. (Photo: cnsphoto.com)
Now tell me what Robbie Riser said about his driver in the post race interview...
Yeeee. I'm gonna have Animal Farm nightmares.
I just listened to Jr's Podcast and the 8 car had THE fastest average on both the front and the back stretch and the second fastest average in turns 3&4. That's pretty darn good if you ask me, great day for the entire team. [minus some of those slow pitstops]
When Junior moved up to the top, and everyone else was running low, that was about as clean of air he was going to get except being out front.
Aero is dominating the sport right now. And the drivers are saying it is becoming too hard to pass without clean air. Hello outside line!
I just tried to post a live thread on the All-Star game. Both times it was not accepted or I goofed up somewhere.
Really pisses me off since I am one of the origionals here.
Did someone else post the thread ahead of you? That's why I like the Nascar thread, we're civilized for the most part and have a schedule for who posts it.
I forgot that was on tonight. Is Derek Jeter playing?
IMO, there will be a lot said, none to the point. It can't be said for some unknown PC reason. It WAS payback and for all those that said that "payback is a b*tch", must approve since it was payback the Bristol spin.
Hey, I am a Gordon fan, but I do not dislike Kenseth and have nothing against him. Maybe Jeff could have waited and then again, maybe Matt could have moved if he knew Jeff had a faster car. Why not? Could it be because he wanted to win the race too?

Ahem, aren't ya on tap for this week's thread?
If the Loudon thread isn't up by noon tomorrow, you can sue Nork.
and tubebender.
Nork and tubebender.
Sue? Can I get FRFL points from them?
I hope folks can hold out 'til tomorrow afternoon.
They gets restless sometimes.. for some reason, not quite sure why. Folks get spoiled, I reckun , lol
As long as PBR don't get held up on the road, we should be OK by late afternoon.
