We pay a lot for electricity, too, so staying cool is expensive. Heating and cooling costs have skyrocketed.
Alabama power and light serves us really well. There is only about 2 months where we run the heat all day, then there are a couple where we run the air in the daytime and the heat at night, then the rest of the time is is 100% AC.
We have a smaller 2200 sq foot, all electric, home. In the dead of summer our power bill may bump $300.00 for three months. Most of the time it runs around $240.00 or so. Not too bad I don't think.

Our house is about the same size as yours and fuel costs are similar or a tad more than yours. We use gas for heat and electric for everything else.
We're thinking of relocating south for retirement. Since our 401k didn't make it all the way back since the crash, it would help if we moved somewhere with a more reasonable cost of living. Having been to all the states east of the Mississippi, it is a hard choice!
