"Interstate Shootings Suspect in Court Today"
WISH TV ^ | July 26, 2006 07:05 AM EDT

Posted on 07/26/2006 4:17:08 AM PDT by Samwise

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Wednesday morning, a 17-year-old accused of the interstate shootings is in jail. Zachariah Blanton is accused of killing one man and wounding another in the Sunday morning shootings.

It's been a quick turn of events. Early Sunday morning, four separate shootings took place on I-65 and I-69 in Indiana. Tuesday evening, State Police announced they had arrested a suspect, and now that suspect is scheduled to appear in court in Jackson County at 11:00 a.m.

Blanton has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and criminal recklessness.

Police believe he was the only shooter, but they have not given a motive for the shootings. They say he has been in trouble for sex and theft crimes in the past.

Governor Mitch Daniels commended law enforcement for this quick arrest."

LOL!

Who knows what caused them to crash.

More importantly, what were they doing there?
Training Camp?
Oil pipeline reconnaissance?

I wouldn't want to profile or anything, but I have a hard time imagining 5 of these guys going camping.

Seriously fanfan, I do appreciate the article and any updates.

Man wanted in 10 cases lands in Thane police net

Express News Service

Mumbai, January 24: A criminal on the most wanted list, Jangi Pathan, was arrested by officers of the Thane Anti-Extortion Cell when he came to meet an associate near J J Hospital on Friday.

A team under Assistant Police Inspector Ravindranath Angre intercepted Abdul Rehman Taj Mohammed Pathan, who was on a motorcycle, at around 8.30 pm. The Hero Honda motorcycle has been impounded.

‘‘Taj Mohammed Pathan alias Jangi Pathan is among the most wanted men in Thane for the past two years. He is named in over 10 cases here,’’ said Angre.

Pathan is believed to be a Pakistani national since a seized passport indicates he was born in Karachi. His background is being screened.

Pathan, 28, rose to the top of the wanted list when he assaulted PSI A Sable of Mumbra police station in 2000. This was followed by an attack on police constable C Shejwalkar the following year.

Soon, Pathan also abducted a Mumbai businessman for ransom. When the police turned on the heat on him, Pathan shifted base to Ahmedabad.

"“The Jihad Stream – Between Knowledge and Scholars” – An Article from the Eighth Issue of the Salafist Group for Call and Combat (GSPC) Magazine, al-Jama’a"
By SITE Institute
July 13, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Addressing a purported breach that has come to exist between the Mujahideen and Islamic scholars, an article from the eighth issue of “Al-Jama’a,” a magazine distributed by the Salafist Group for Call and Combat (GPSC) in Algeria, rejects this belief, explaining that there are still “true scholars” left who support jihad and names them. This article, titled: “The Jihad Stream - Between Knowledge and Scholars,” written by Abu al-‘Azmat, argues that scholarly direction and interpretation given to the Mujahideen “beatifies” jihad, and those “who pretend to be scholars,” should follow their example. A multitude of the scholars al-‘Azmat names have died in jihad, such as Abu Anas al-Shami and Abdullah Rashood in Iraq, and others like Omar Abdul Rahman, the blind sheikh, and Abu Qatada are incarcerated."

Jetliner Loses Engine, Lands Safely in NYC (NY/CA/UK - 7-26-06)

A jetliner carrying more than 250 people lost power in one of its two engines Wednesday but landed safely at a nearby airport, officials said.

The Boeing 777 plane landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport less than a half hour after the engine failed, said American Airlines spokesman Billy Sanez. Officials were investigating what caused the problem on Flight 134.

"The plane landed after the captain declared an emergency," Sanez said. "It's not a common incident, but the pilots are trained to deal with these situations."

The plane was en route to London from Los Angeles. Sanez said all the passengers would be put on another plane

CDC Considers Texas for Morgellons Study (7-26-06)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is launching a study of Morgellons disease that may target South Texas where more than 100 people are suffering from the illness.

Cindy Casey suffers from Morgellons. Symptoms of the disease include lesions that leave scars, the sensation of bugs crawling under the skin, and fibers that pop out of the skin. "I pulled some fibers out, and I was just taking a look at it, and the fibers just started to move around, kind of around each other," Cindy Casey said. "And I screamed to Charles (my husband), 'Charles, come here and look, because everyone's been telling me I'm crazy. Charles, look at this,' and he looked at it, and yeah, he saw it too."

Incidents like that are just one more bizarre part to this puzzling disease that seems to be spreading.

"There is the slightly frightening component to it that we don't know what causes this. If more and more people are coming down with Morgellons, we need to get a handle on this," Wymore said. "Is there an environmental component that needs to be addressed? Is it contagious? These are all things that we don't know the answer to at this point."

The CDC has formed a task force to investigate Morgellons, and they are launching a study to find out where this condition is most common and who it affects. Texas is one of the states with the most cases per capita, and the epidemiology study may be conducted here.

Canadian-Israeli prof. arrested on suspicion of spying for Hezbollah
By Tamara Traubmann and Yossi Melman, Haaretz Correspondents

A Canadian-Israeli professor has been held by Israeli authorities for 18 days without access to a lawyer, on suspicion of spying for Hezbollah and Iranian intelligence agents.

A gag order on the case was lifted Wednesday after Haaretz appealed to Nazareth Magistrates Court.

Professor Ghazi Falah was arrested while touring the Rosh Hanikra area, on July 8, four days before the outbreak of the current conflict in Lebanon.

He was approached by individuals who identified themselves as security officials, and who instructed him to stop photographing. Falah refused, and after an argument, was arrested.

Falah, a professor of geography at the University of Akron, said he had taken the pictures as part of his acadmic research.

Before Wednesday, Falah had not been permitted to speak to his lawyer, Hussein Abu Hussein. The police and the Shin Bet security service repeatedly refused to lift the gag order placed on this case, despite wide publicity in media sources in Canada, U.S., and Britain.

According to security officials, Falah is suspected of "spying for hostile sources, with the goal of harming state security," in reference to his alleged connections with Hezbollah and Iranian intelligence.

They said Falah was allegedly sent by Hezbollah and Iran to various locations to photograph and report where rockets have landed in Israel.

Security officials said Falah was photographing a military antenna in Rosh Hanikra. He recently took a trip to Beirut, and two years before visited Iran, where the Shin Bet believes he established contacts with Iranian intelligence officials.

Falah has denied all suspicions against him, claiming the purpose of his trip to Beirut had to been to organize an international conference on geography in the Arab world. Fatah said his trip to Tehran had been in the company of Alex Murphy, former head of the American Geography Asscociation, and was solely for acadmic purposes.

"I am a geographer and an Academic researcher, and I have never made any connections secret or illegal with intelliegence or terror sources," Falah told Haaretz in a statement given by his lawyer.

Falah said all the pictures he had taken along the length of the strip outside of Nahariya were designated for his research, and the rest of the pictures were similar to those he took during his visits in Lebanon from Tyre southward until Israel.

Academics around the world have organized an international campaign on behalf of Falah, calling on Israel to allow him a fair trial, and to either present him with an indictment or release him.
