Like so many Republican bills, this bill is also fiscally irresponsible. It redirects federal royalty payments from the treasury to coastal states where drilling is occurring offshore on the Outer Continental Shelf.

"We do not know what the cost to the federal treasury will be in the long run, but we know it will be huge. Last week, the Bush Administration estimated that the bill would cost the treasury $69 billion dollars over 15 years.

Let me see if I got this right, were not drilling off shore at these areas now so there isn't any royalties to the Federal Government now. But she's bitchin' that it would cost the Feds $69b over 15 years cause the royalties would go to the states not the Congress critters if they pass the drilling bill.

I remember an oil spill in the pacific over thirty years ago . I thought that that one came from a damaged tanker, bringing oil from Alaska ?
Maybe Ms Pelosi likes high gasoline prices and imported oil .
