I'll admit I'm in somewhat of shock, seeing as we knew one of the families. The shock of course is that Siegelman was convicted, it was not the strongest of cases, and it's strongest evidence relied on people who were, well, less than honorable.

Since 1990, we have had 4 governors. Now, we can say that 2 of them have been convicted of felonies.

Note, this is not a defense of Siegelman of all, just saying, it's hard to get a jury to convict in cases such as this, and my personal preference when it relates to political corruption trials is to keep the federal government out of them.
