Romney-Allen would be a superb ticket. That would position and prepare Allen for the presidency in 2016-2024.

Both candidates are phonies when it comes to prolife and, for that matter, a whole range of conservative core issues.
I would not be able to vote for either of them, even in a general election.
Lol, allen has much better executive experience than romney. He was governor of VA from 1993-1997 and had a fantastic term as governor. Don't pull this, well romney had a dem legisltuare, allen did too. Yea, romney balanced the budget without raisng taxes, thats nice but thats about all he did. Allen kept the budget under control, pushed welfare reform, juvenile sentencing reform, eliminated parole for violent offenders, pushed for some of the highest education standards, and helped eventually bring the va legislatures under republican control. yea, allen sure has crappy executive experience. *rolls eyes*

Allen is too much like Bush. I think the country wants someone different. Maybe someone without a famous dad who is named George. McCain is hated by way too many conservatives even though he is conservative on paper. Even if neither Romney or Giuliani win, they should at least be considered for VP. I don't want to listen to another 8 years of Halliburton whines from the lefties about the new VP.
Lol, now we both know your off the deep end. I am no mccainiac and anyone who knows me on this forum knows that as well. Mccain has a socially conservative record, whether we like it or not. He is pro life, although he hasnt been very fond of religious people that is true, but he generally sides with us. He never went off the deep end like romney and acted like a social liberal to get elected. I have the intellectual honesty to see that, you do not.
I respect his social conservatism ,b ut i dont like his pro amnesty, anti 1st amendment, gang of 14, pro global warming, and his uber ego.
Romney is a flaming rino and that will come out. Look at both his 1994 and 2002 campaigns. He ran as lincoln chafee but now that he wants to be president all of a sudden hes a 'conservative' and hes fooling people like you.
Well I don't knock Allen , he is a good Conservative . I just don't think he can take a punch ,so to speak, and he comes off as a bit "stuffy" . He's a good Senator though .
I am granting Romney a hefty amount of wiggle room though , having governed one of the bluest states, and having governed fairly Conservatively given the politics of that state . I truly believe that as he goes national, he will come into line with red state ideals . That doesn't mean that he's not principled by any means , look where he is Governing and compare it to a majority red state nation . It makes sense if he has done some things that stink of Mass politics , if he pushes Mass ideals at the rest of us , he will fail (and rightly so) .
If Romney doesn't pass the gun rights test, he will not get my primary vote , but I will allow him to "get it right" for the national level because he will be a very effective candidate and legislator . He is also one of the few who can beat Hillary .We need to give him time to see where he stands on these national issues .
Don't be foolish , McCain is vehemently anti-gun . Don't try and push McCain off as a Social Conservative , saying you would never vote for him, and then bashing Romney .

The "ideal candidate" will be an actual conservative...pro-life, pro-liberty, strong on the borders and defense, pro-American sovereignty, and a Constitutionalist.
