Of course I was being sarcastic. You have to be when you see statements such as
IMHO, the department of defense should require goolge earth to blur out pictures of our vital bases post haste .
Do you not believe those that would do harm could find those pictures elsewhere? And as I stated many of these pictures are outdated. Even if they aren't, they would be freely available through another nation's military, unless of course you're suggesting we shoot down every satellite capable of taking photographs except US satellites. However I think a lot of nations would be rather upset at the US government if they did. But we'll put you in charge of that shall we?
Which makes pictures taken by one satellite and offered to the public sort of a moot point doesn't it? But hell let's allow the DOD or ___________(fill in the government agency) tell us what we can look at or not. That's what 'freedom' is all about isn't it?
Perhpas you didn't live through that, or don't know people closely who did. But we won precisely because it was viewed that seriously.
So, all of your smart comments aside...I stand precisely by what I said.
The info can be damaging, not because it is in real time (which it certainly isn't) or because it can track moving targets (which it certainly doesn't), but because it allows potential enemies very easy access to information they could not otherwise acquire so easily and gives them exact positioning for the assetts we have there. From any source, in a time of war, that is dangerous information...but you go ahead and keep living in that crystal palace. You have every right to do so, to feel as ou do and to your own opinion...as do I.
Regards.
