This is the liberal response to the WMD find: "Santorum recycles bogus Iraq WMD claims"
BTC News ^
Posted on 06/22/2006 4:50:29 AM PDT by ChrisFelice1
Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has been making the rounds claiming that the US has in fact discovered banned weapons in Iraq. The claims are based on the continuing sporadic appearance of pre-Gulf War I munitions containing variously disintegrated chemical weapons, and the Pentagon has said that the claims are crap: the munitions in question, mostly artillery rounds, are unusable and have been for years...

Er, uhm, maybe because THE LIB'S COULDN'T PROVE THAT THEY WERE UNRELIABLE until they were found? After all, the last time it was used, THEY WERE RELIABLE.
THEY DID KILL PEOPLE. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE.
If I - with a known history of blowing up buildings - put a 500 lb bomb in your basement, but claim I had NO 500 lb bombs left over at all because I used all of them up, would YOU want the bomb removed from your basement, or would YOU merely "trust" your "friend" in the next neighborhood who also claims I have no bombs at all, and if I did have bombs, it was your fault that I put a bomb in your basement.

Binary chem shells do not degrade.
To: ChrisFelice1
Santorum said this morning on IMUS that the weapons are pre 1991 but when IMUS told him that an "unnamed" Pentagon source has stated that the shells were unusable then Santorum said that's not what the intelligence report stated and that Saddam could have had Anthrax within 4 weeks.

First... I am not stupid...
Safety is always first...
A cup of sarin isn't a weapon until it is used as such... as is Water Hemlock, Lantana, Rhubarb leaves. Not much of a danger until you eat them...
The canisters were not attached to warheads. and NO, I would be as so stupid as to have one on a mantle.
But, the pentagon has released a report that the canisters could not be used for thier intended purpose, meaning as a weapon of mass destruction.

Just one source to educate yourself. It may help you from making such ridiculous, utterly sophmoric arguments in the future.
Refresh my memory: How many tons of chemical munitions did the Iraquis possess at the time of the UN report? How far along did the UN and world intelligence agencies estimate the Iraqi nuclear program to be? Where did all those munitions go? Finally, which country was the most financially capable, the most technologically proficient, and possessed the greatest degree of phychotic bloodlust necessary to assist AQ in an attck upon US soil?
If you guessed Iraq, you're correct for the first time on this thread.

This is aquote from the link:
I called the Pentagon to ask about the story and the press duty officer actually laughed when I asked him if the report was significant. Apparently not much has changed during the following year: a Fox News reporter contacted the Pentagon to check on Santorums and Hoekstras claims and was told that the munitions were no longer serviceable and were not the WMDs for which this country went to war.

Shooting our planes down... doesn't count, I guess all the resolutions wouldn't make a difference to you, Oil for Food, Planning to kill the president... move along... nothing to see here, look, glitter.
To make it very simple. IAEA didn't check places they should have, they said so in the Dueffer Report).

And the cost benefit ratio of NOT killing 10,000 - 15,000 by nerve gas Americans is ..... What?
North Korea didn't "invade" Nebraska. It invaded (with Chinese and Russian aid) South Korea.
Greece? East Germany? Austria? Poland? Slovakia? Yugoslavia? Turkey? Angola? Nicaragua? Pakistan? Malaysia? Philippines? Taiwan? China itself? Tibet? Ethiopia? Finland? Czech Republic? Lithuania? Estonia? Italy
Cambodia? South Vietnam? North Vietnam? Thailand? Laos? Timur? New Guinea?
What countries WERE YOU going to let the Communists take over over in the past 60 years by claiming "they haven't invaded the US soil"? These are terrorists, begun in the fight against the west by Communism, and now continuing it via radical Islamic extremism. Where will you fight them?
At least St Kennedy had the final nerve to defend us, against the wishes of the 60's democrat elite. Now, the democrats are merely shills for international socialism - with allegiance to the UN over all.

Ok, apparently you haven't read the report. The Agents found have degraded to the point to where they are not harmfull..."Not able to be used for thier intended purpose".
BZZZT! Wrong answer. They could no longer be used as artillery shells. The chemical munitions found contained binary agents, which take decades to degrade... this is a fact. Why do you think the military produces them as binary agents?

You are correct. I was stationed at a chemical weapons site in Germany in 1987-1991 and we had bunkers full of chems that dated back to mid 60s and 80s and I swear some looked like the were from WW1. All of the 155s and 8s were still war capable. The site was decommissioned in early 90s.

Do you mix the precursors of your medicine before you take a dose?

Again... "thier intended purpose" = WMDs
Doesn't mean they aren't capable of killing a hundred people, just not thousands

Next time, look at your bottle...Medicine looses it's effectiveness, the date is a safe guard. Some turn to poison after the date...

The UN classifies thses weapons, both Binary sarin and mustard gas (HD), as WMD.
Inconvenient for you but the truth anyway.

So instead of having a canister of extremely potent chemical, we are now down to a can of Raid...
Infact, RAID would turn our M-9 tape purple...

Why don't you just google binary sarin shells and get somewhat informed instead of planting your feet in quicksand?
Everything degrades in time, ask the SLOTD, but the SLOTD is not an effective argument from your perspective. You are simply wrong. Binary shells are binary for a couple of reasons, one of those reasons is that the precursors are much more stable than the endproduct.
Ask your wife about that.
To: jwalsh07
not an inconvenience for me...I haven't argued about the fact the Sadam had them or not, nor the fact that these are/were dangerous. I am saying that the hype about this is all wrong. The Pentagon even said it wasn't these canisters that got us into the war.

If you read the mil sites you would have seen almost daily reports of finds and caches since our troops have been there. So search on this site... you don't even have to leave. That's not too hard... right?
