In 1974, David Thorstadt—prominent member of the gay rights movement, Trotskyist, and founder of NAMBLA (North American Man-Boy Love Assoc.), co-authored with John Lauritson, a history of the early gay rights movement. The history, entitled The Early Homosexual Rights Movement: 1864-1935 links the modern post Stonewall Rebellion movement to its birth in Germany, in 1864. It also details the linkage to socialism.

This is potentially quite important and worthy of a serious essay by itself.

Of course, the timing is important, too -- 1973 being the year in which the homosexual activists overreached the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association and wrote themselves out of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, or DSM. There was an article online about the further fallout of that story just today.

The thing people overlook is that the activists were already hard at it in 1957, poisoning the well when Evelyn Hooker undertook her study at UCLA that later became the hook, as it were, on which the homosexual psychiatrists hung their political campaign to roll the APA's.

Not generally known was that homosexual activists had interfered with Hooker's study to bias her sample and lead her to the outcome they wanted, viz., that everything else being equal, (and it wasn't) gay is okay.
