I was totally agreeing with your post until that last statement.... How does a piece of paper make someone qualified to be ordained and preach? Some of the greatest preachers to ever live have had no Bible College education... The piece of paper/education is not what makes the preacher - it is God's calling and strengthening. Yes, the studies for a degree can give additional preparation - but without God's divine hand - no-one could be a preacher, or should be ordained.
And I have heard some very highly trained preachers and such (as in Doctoral Degrees), make some incredibly stupid and non-Scriptural, even blasphemous, statements.
a lot of churchs no longer fear God and do whatevery they want. If they feared HIM, they would be eagerly studying His Word, not the culture around them. Proverbs says
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fool dispise widsom and instruction." - From God through David.
Amen. 2 Timothy 3:7 - Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
The problem is, folks don't have a clue whats in the Bible.. but get some associate nonsense and the presbytery says here's your new pastor....
Sorry, but I think 2 years of study doesn't qualify you to preach squat. Especially when they clearly don't have a clue what is in the Bible.
Like one preacher told me; sound doctrine doesn't always make good preachin', and good preachin' isn't always sound doctrine...
But I agree with you...Some are called to teach, some are called to preach, some are called to pastor a flock, etc...
Biblically, all you need to preach the bible is a fishing license...Never met a pastor nor never heard of an 'apostle' that didn't like to fish...
And then, you only need one bible verse to get you goin': 2Ti 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
And the three key words are; study, and rightly dividing...
