Might there be a Japanese Aegis-equivalent vessel that might also be on stand-by for a shoot-down if the telemetry appears threatening?

Well you -know- the Boeing airborne lasers are gonna be up! And I can't imagine any Japanese anti-Missile platforms sitting around dark, I know Japan and the U.S. have what is called a "layered" missile defense system. Meaning shared signals I would guess.
