Does he appear as a representative of the Transit Department or just as a Republican op-ed person?

Exactly. What do his views on gays have to do with his job at the Metro, and why would the subject even come up and then why did he answer it?

If that's the case, then it looks like he's got a great wrongful termination suit. The only impediment would be, IMO, if he ever uses his radio appearance and ties it to his job position. Sometimes it can be a sticky situation when the employer tries to say the person is shedding a 'controversial' light on them.
