While aboard the USS Iwo Jima, as part of 36th Marine Amphib. Unit, the ship had numerous mechanical and other problems. One evening while waiting dinner in the officers mess, one of my USMC buddies turned to me and stated loudly, "I thought the Iwo was named after the famous WWII battle in the Pacific." "And it's not?" I asked. By now everyone was listening in, "No, it is really an acronym: I Want One Jammed In My A$$". Needless to say, the Navy officers were NOT amused.

BTW, the Iwo was about 20-25 years old then, and that was 25 years ago. My USMC cover is off to those dedicated Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen and Marines who continually repair, maintain and operate our fleets of ships, aircraft, trucks, etc.

Thank you for your service and dedication!
