Do we really want schools to be PC zones, and force those not into PC to exit their kids from the school, even while paying taxes for such schools? Is it really necessary to get into PC notions about family arrangements of any kind in elementary school? Isn't there a more fundamental mission of elementary schools than that? I say all this as one who favors legalized same sex marriage, and I think I am the only one on this site who posts that opinion. But I don't want the debate on that to deflect young kids from learning the basics, and frankly I don't want schools teaching a point of view on this matter at all. I am not comfortable with secondary schools doing indoctrination. I think it is an abuse of power, an abuse of their publically funded school monopoly, and an abuse of the right of parents to teach kids their own values, without PC hacks doing a number on their kids. But kids are resilient. In the end, the agenda of the hacks will fail.
The merits of same sex marriage will rise and fall over time for reasons other than secondary school hackdom. At least I hope that is the case.
No I don't. Having said that, if Parker had taken any number of steps available to resolve his concerns other than arrest, I would agree. Once he insisted on being arrested at school, he should have removed his children from there. He left them to be taunted and humiliated at the least. That is unforgivable.
