Leave it to the publisher of all the news UNFIT to print to start out with "In biblical lore". Lore? Really! Nothing in the Bible has been proven FALSE. I call it TRUTH; not "lore".

"In biblical lore"!?!?!? Once again the NYT shows itself to only be useful for lining bird cages.

Reminds me of the vocal doubters regarding Belshazar (story found in Daniel chptr 5), squelched by the discover of a simple grain receipt from his era as ruler over Babylon!

Doubted Biblical Tale? Who doubted it? Certainly not me!.......BTW, why would a biblical writer even waste his time going to such great lengths to invent an entire nation of people that did not exist? It's a whole lot easier to write about real things.............

Nothing in the Bible has been proven FALSETrue. New discovery/find after new discovery/find always validate.

There is nothing new here. IIRC, Werner Keller had photos of the Edomite copper mines in his mid-20th century book, The Bible as History.

Actually, I think the article supports the Bible (however weakly).
As to your comment about the "book of lies," I imagine any dig that disputes the koran would be destroyed ASAP. Islam isn't interested in the truth, hence critical examination is blasphemy. I am always amazed that muslims don't notice the complete lack of intellectual honesty and logic in such a prohibition.

Just curious, does the Gospel of Judas "prove" the Bible or disprove the story of Judas's betrayal?

But, you see, the "Gospel of Judas" is just writing. The Bible is, well...um...

Just curious, does the Gospel of Judas "prove" the Bible or disprove the story of Judas's betrayal? The Gospel of Judas was written about 180 AD by Gnostics and was know by the early Christian Fathers as false.

Lore? Really! Nothing in the Bible has been proven FALSE. I call it TRUTH; not "lore".
You might want to look up the definition of the word lore.
1. Accumulated facts, traditions, or beliefs about a particular subject. See Synonyms at knowledge.
2. Knowledge acquired through education or experience.
3. Archaic. Material taught or learned.
