NJ assemblywomen call for boycott of new Coulter book

TRENTON, N.J. - Commentator Ann Coulter's incendiary words about outspoken 9/11 widows have led two state lawmakers to calls for a boycott of her book in the widows' home state of New Jersey.

Assemblywomen Joan M. Quigley, D-Hudson, and Linda Stender, D-Union, on Thursday called on New Jerseyans to stop buying the book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," and for retailers in the state to stop selling it.

"Coulter's vicious characterizations and remarks are motivated by greed and her desire to sell books. By making these claims, she proved herself worse than those she is attempting to vilify - she is a leach trying to turn a profit off perverting the suffering of others," the two assemblywomen said in a statement.

A spokeswoman for Crown Forum, the publisher of Coulter's book, did not immediately return calls for comment Thursday.

In her new book, Coulter writes that a group of New Jersey widows whose husbands perished in the World Trade Center act "as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them."

She also wrote, "I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

The comments drew criticism Wednesday from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., who said the book should be called "Heartless," and New York's Republican Gov. George Pataki, who said he was stunned by the remarks.

Coulter appeared Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show and stuck by her stance, saying the women used their grief "to make a political point."

Her criticism was aimed at four New Jersey women she dubbed "The Witches of East Brunswick," after the town where two of them live.

The women - Kristen Breitweiser, Lorie Van Auken, Mindy Kleinberg and Patty Casazza - have spent the years since the 2001 terror attacks supporting an independent commission to examine government failures before the attack. During the 2004 presidential race, they endorsed Democrat John Kerry.

Ya hit the nail on the head. In fact, I think most GOPers never mention the left's crappy books/movies at all.

Ought to be good for another 10,000 sales.

Coulter despises Bush

Coulter has supported the President since the Gore 2000 election hijacking and have frequently praised the President in subsequent columns.

She opposes some of his bone-headed policies, big deal. I'm sorry if she's not the 100% Bushbot that you and others are.

Because there are several more words, sentences, statements and even chapters to consider.

I haven't read it yet, but can comfortably assume that when the MSM assigns the most controversial statement as the premise, or "subject" as you say, then I know this is the worst that they can find, and they also assume it will hurt her in the greatest way.

She didn't pick the statement that they (and apparently we) would fixate on.

Conservative authors who speak the truth, however, have been blacked-out (Gary Aldrich's book) or ...

Looks like she found a way around THAT little problem ;o)

Ignoring Ann Coulter is like ignoring Rush Limbaugh...you can do it, but I wouldn't advise it if you're a republican.

You can't possibly be serious. Bones is a female Michael Weiner. She only wishes she had the influence Limbaugh does.

If you remember, she pissed and moaned about John Roberts, and Bush (and just about everybody else) ignored her.

Rush said that the Dubai Ports deal should go through (as did I) and Bush ignored him.

I don't see that it made any difference to Bush that he ignores either one of them.

The media black-out order on Aldrich's book came directly from none other than Slick himself. In fact, Aldrich was supposed to discuss his book on the Today Show and some other cable shows.

"Thank you for a voice of reason in a sea of undeserved Coulter adolation"

Nonsense.

"I share your disgust over the vile comments Ann has made this time out, and from other responses I've gotten, many freepers feel the same."

The really vile comments came from the 4 Joisey witches, in their rabid attacks on President Bush.
What Ann says about them is mild by comparison.
At least Ann hasn't accused them of being murderers...yet.

Hummmm? Since this is a government official calling for a boycott, could this be Censorship? Do they want book burning too?

I know it isn't, but if the situations were reversed, that is exactly what the barking Moonbats and their MSM fellow travelers would be crying.

"for the children"

It's funny how a phrase becomes a cliche. Peach obviously meant to express concern over these women's actual children as any rational person would, not expressing the tired liberal mantra. For that, Peach becomes the target of ridicule. Are we now no longer able to express any concern for children because of the stupid cliche?

Sorry if she doesn't meet YOUR definition of an attractive woman,

She doesn't. And that "attractive" label will vanish when the cigarettes and the booze catch up to her, as they will.

Oh wait....sorry.

Yeah, all that political capital his poll numbers provide him gives him virtual immunity, huh?

"How do you think President Bush felt when Bones called for his impeachment and suggested he had gone back to drinking again?"

Being accused of drinking is the same as being accused of murder and worse by Joisey 4 harpies is it?
