The most interesting aspect is that the mainstream media has been on a huge campaign to promote them--cover of Time, major feature on "60 Minutes". Oh, great catch, Numb, I meant to say something about that!
Here's some FR threads about these Ditzy Chix Who Sell Few Tix:
- DIXIE CHICKS SLATED TO RELEASE HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED FOURTH ALBUM - I guess they didn't say by whom it was "HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED".
- Dixie Chicks on top -- Not sure what they're "on top" of but anything Natalie's on top of better be built pretty sturdy.
- Nashville Pines for Dixie Chicks -- This one's from the grey-haired-ponytailed guys at Rolling Stone so you know it's going to be hilarious, if unintentionally. And they don't disappoint: "Country stations eagerly await new music from formerly banned trio." Yeah, all those country stations aching to get testy calls from ticked-off listeners. Rolling Stone's expertise on country is as wide as a bird bath, and not quite as deep.
- Dixie Chicks: 'Send us to Iraq' -- I don't think that anybody was gonna, but thanks to today's other good news ["Clap for the Zarkman!"] a bunch of openings now exist. I'm sure there's still someone over there to stuff Natalie into a ticking abaya. And what an improvement it'd be! that's really be "entertaining the troops."
Yikes! They were practically lined up for a two million seller, a boffo tour, a TV special, and sainthood. Whose job was it to tell the fans?
And in related news, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is still dead.
And yeah, Numbers Guy, I'm sure Katie Couric is deeply saddened. Little Tommy Daschle too. (Hey -- is it just me, or are those two never in the same place?)
d.o.l.

Yikes! They were practically lined up for a two million seller, a boffo tour, a TV special, and sainthood. Whose job was it to tell the fans? They could have had all that, if they had only been willing to "make nice". But they weren't ready, and they had to rub their audience's nose in it.
Well, if that's the way they want to play it, that's the way it's going to be. Actions have consequences, and in this case it is going to wind up costing the Chicks dearly.
It's a shame, because I really like their music. If they had just been a little bit apologetic, I would probably have seen their show. But if they want to wallow in the stew of self-pity mixed with self-righteousness, well good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.
BTW, St. Louis has been postponed, as well. Due to overwhelming demand in Canada, England and Australia, of all things...
