No carrier, apparently, would touch it. I was on the 'Fair Plan when I bought my first crappy multifamily...a problem property that I rehabbed. This place is an historic colonial is the toni section of S. Dartmouth at Buzzard's Bay.....McMansions going up all around...property tax zooming.
I just can't believe that every home in the state or nation, within a mile of water, has just had it's cost of insurance sneakily doubled, or jacked way up. There will be a wailing and gnashing of teeth when it hits the fan...but the implementation...at renewal....is seemingly designed to minimize the wave of PO'd people who'll be writing their reps.

In the past couple of weeks the National Hurricane Center has released their forcast and it predicted more storms effecting the Northeast US.
Could be a factor.

If your mortgage requires it, they'll find 'someone, somewhere' willing to insure it. At a higher price of course. It sucks rocks big time and I'm sorry I don't have any useful advice for you. Best luck is all I can say.

State Farm has already given notice to Floridians that their costs are going up 75 percent this August, that's on top of a hefty increase last year (and this is whether you live near the water or not.)
Plus in Florida, insurance companies are absolved of some of the liability from hurricanes because each insurance policy has a separate "hurricane deductible"...which is a percentage of the value of your home (I think it's 2 or 3 percent of the value for your hurricane deductible.)

Do you know where Russells Mills Road (Crapo Field)? I left there about 25 years ago and never looked back.

Same thing happened to us last month on a house we have owned in Orleans for over 10 years - insurance went from 990 to 1638!
