Just watched Dick Morris on the O' Reilly Factor tonight. He thinks that if Al Gore does decide to run for president in 2008, he can win.
I don't think so.
Morris bases his opinion on the following rationale:
1. People now link the import of Middle East oil with the empowering of terrorists.
2. The Reagan Democrats who voted for Reagan and Bush in 04 did so because both Republicans promised to cut taxes. They'll vote for Gore...according to Morris...because he'll promise to lower gas prices.
3. He thinks the fact that Gore carried the popular vote in 2000 still means something.
First, Bush isn't running in 2008.
Second, environmental policies have played a major role in price increases. We have major gas desposits in the Gulf Coast and oil deposits in ANWAR - but we're forbidden to drill there. We have fewer refineries now than ever - because of environmental regulations. Why Bush hasn't brought this up is a mystery to me, but it's infuriating.
Under a president Al Gore, the US would sign the Koyoto Agreement. That will send gas prices through the roof.
And why would the Reagan Democrats vote for someone who for sure will raise their taxes and gas prices?
Finally, the world has changed since 2000. Al Gore hasn't.
Dick. Dick. If your boy Al-Gore promises lower gas prices, the Republicans will counter with free tickets to Al-Gore's movie, "An Incoherent Spoof." Come on Dick. You can do better than that.
Is he sucking unclean toes these days?
Here is why I know algore can't win.
Since 2,000, algore has repeatedly assumed the bafoon persona. He hasn't done his image any good and people see him as someone who may not be dealing with a full deck.
I'm being series here.
2) The Reagan Democrats who voted for Reagan and Bush in 04 did so because both Republicans promised to cut taxes. They'll vote for Gore...according to Morris...because he'll promise to lower gas prices.
3) He thinks the fact that Gore carried the popular vote in 2000 still means something.
1.1) People should associate foreign oil with idiotic environmental policies and strong-arm labor tactics.
2.1) Gore, the sworn enemy of the internal combustion engine, is going to lower gas prices? I doubt it.
3.1) Since 2000, Gore has exposed himself as a bullet we barely dodged.
Morris thought Hillary would win because she was expertly copying the clinton triangulation model.
He's abandoned her huh? LOL
I find it amusing suddenly the pundits have all caught up with me. I said many months ago the Dems would either choose an Al Gore type, or Warner type. If not the actual thing. While most others in the Beltway were fixated hysterically on Hillary, whom I peg as destined to be the next Ted kennedy of the Senate.
Now, who's out of touch with the bases of both parties? The beltway or me? They thought Hillary would fly, she will not. They have panted after Mccain, now Morris is stating McCain probably damaged himself hugely with his stand on immigration in the GOP primaries. Word to Morris--he damaged himself long before that.
Morris may be a good polster, but he's a terrible analyst of that data.
Right now he's saying Bush's proposal on immigration is brilliant, even though if passed he'll lose conservatives and the Dems will win by default. Sure, it's great to entice new voters. But the idea isn't to lose more voters then you gain, and that is exactly what will happen with this plan.
..he also thinks chewing on toes of hookers is a great past time
Doogle
I can get my SORE-LOSERMAN tee shirt out of storage.
There's no way he can match President Bush's performance since 2000. Like going on stage after Andre Bocelli.
I think the country has a death wish to even consider a democratic president with what's going on around the planet. Especially if the candidate comes from the group they're touting.
Kerry? Gore? Hillary?
Besides wanting to vomit seeing their names, I see the instant repeal of the tax cuts, anti business legislation.
They'll make Jimmy Carter look like a Memorial Day picnic.
Run Al Run!
GORE /DEAN '08
My very first thought also... LOL!
Dick Morris sounds like Herbie (the misfit elf) from "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer"
Just thought I'd share that.
lol!
Dickie oughta retire. He's gone over the cliff.
O' Reilly would be better off giving me air time. I'm right more often than morris.
