Well, 12 hours is not too bad to take.
I know my club just finished up their NRA Basic Pistol course which is two Saturdays in a row 9 hours each day.
Good stuff to learn ... especially if you want to apply for a carry permit in another state. The certificates you receive from the NRA courses can be applied to other states with reciprocity to Ohio.
The Home Defense courses are very good and almost always have a local officer or State Trooper come in on the last day to give the layout of the law and what you CAN and CAN'T do when defending your and home and family.
Also, when you do obtain your permit and you are serious about carrying, carry your weapon AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE so it become second nature to you ... just like taking your wallet and keys when you leave the house.
Good luck and thank your son for his service to our country for us Freepers.

Why do we even take these a=holes to the hospital - I would have put band-aids on their flesh wounds and let 'em die, err I mean go home.
