Not to be picky....

But the cars are not Hondas, only the engines are made by Honda. The cars are made by 2 or 3 different manufacturers. I know Dallara is the most common but I forget the names of the others.

I own a 225 Honda outboard on my pontoon. 55 mph on the Lake...very quiet and very smooth.

"Honda is the only serious engine company in the world."

I respectfully disagree.

The Corvette Z06 achieves 500 horsepower in an approximately 3130-pound vehicle and delivers 0-60 performance in less than 4 seconds, quarter-mile in less than 12 seconds and a top speed of more than 190 mph on a race track. And 25 mpg highway and all this for under $67K MSRP.

What ever happened to the Chevroreys?

The Chevrolet Ilmor engine was the powerhouse that Honda unseated. The year Honda became dominate, Chevrolet was getting spanked with their Ilmor. They turned to Cosworth mid to late season for an engine. The last "Chevy" engines to run in the IRL were actually Ford Cosworth engines with a Bowtie on the valve covers.

Toyota left the IRL this year to pursue the NASCAR crowd. In the longer term, the 500 and the IRL fans will be better served if there are competitive engine suppliers.

Actually, the Aztec was designed (styled anyway) by some old gal Chevy hired from Renault. Can't blame her, just the dunce who hired her.

The L-57 is a serious engine, but GM is not a serious engine COMPANY.

"but GM is not a serious engine COMPANY."

Well that's your unsubstantiated opinion.

A few million engines, a few million satisfied customers and victorious racers would disagree with you. LOL
GM was building "serious engines" when the Japanese were riding around in rickshaws. LOL

You are correct. The Chevy small block is a good example. But it would seem here's more development capability in the Northstar.
