I'm sure John Lydon would love to see his name on FR and one of his sex pistol songs listed as a conservative anthem.

Considering that the original Punk movement was as much against the Popular Left as it was against the Establishment, I wouldn't be so sure.

Agreed; remember the SP revival was called the "Filthy Lucre" tour. Mr. Rotten was never against making a buck; and it's difficult for those of us who grew up in the grand USA to understand the motivation behind the Brit punk movement. Joni Mitchell was a gazillion times more anti-American values than the Sex Pistols ever were.

Agreed. The Sex Pistols represented a backlash against the 60's do-gooder hippie movement and the 70's hedonistic disco lifestyle. To be sure, these guys didn't live a conservative lifestyle but you can see some of these themes in their music.
Looking back to the straight-edge hardcore punk movement of the early 80's, one could also find some conservative themes in bands like Minor Threat. Straight edge punks rejected drinking, drugs, smoking and casual sex. Look at this one Guilty of Being White - not a racist song at all, but liberals would certainly mischaracterize that way based on the title.

I misstated my point. Lydon is a committed leftist. We do share some common ground on a few points, but he is a lib to the core.
