Do you dig the Blues? 'Serves you right to suffer' - John Lee Hooker would be my nomination for a Blues song

Don’t know that one, but I’ll keep an ear out. Thanks for the recommendation. Conservative theme?

26. "Capitalism," by Oingo Boingo.

"There's nothing wrong with Capitalism / There's nothing wrong with free enterprise. . . . You're just a middle class, socialist brat / From a suburban family and you never really had to work."

Never heard of this before, but I'll have to listen to it.

I love the thought of the King getting a letter from the colonies that just said, "F**k you, we won't do what you tell us".

Any conservative that hasn't felt a similar sentiment toward the Federal Government deserves what he gets.

The inability to divorce the artist from the art is a failing of many conservatives.

Not really. I suffered through many years of leftist rants by rock stars who I thought were geniuses in my youth. Age has taught me that they weren't as great as Rolling Stone insisted they were.

I'm fine with divorcing art from the artist. I have no trouble listening to either Wagner or Tchaikovsky, even though both of them were tools for different reasons. I guess the difference is that I don't consider pop stars "artists" until their work has been around 50 years and people still seek it out.

One time my friends listened to that (and other rage songs) for about 2 hours while drinking liquor. I never heard that particular line aimed at the government that night, but a few bouncers heard...it turned out my friends would, in fact, do what the bouncer told them.

I just don't see ANY movie at the theater, I never went and saw "The Passion" at the theater or the new "9/11" movie or Narnia... If the movie is really good I will buy the DVD when
it comes out. I don't know how long its been since i have to the theater, its been YEARS!

oh now I remember! the last movie i saw at the theatre was "save the last dance" because I was on a date and the dumb girl wanted to see it.. we left 1/4 way into the movie because it sucked! LOL

I think Jesus is Just Alright by the Doobie Brothers should have made the list.

Originally by the Byrds who were anything but conservative. I think the Doobies version of the song was not sarcastic, though.

I never took their version as sarcastic. Never heard the Byrd version. I probably don't want to too.

Everyone should take look at number 3, the most misinterpreted song ever. This is a good download list!

Umm, you are aware that 'House of The Rising Sun' was an old folk song about a brothell, don't you?

I don't see how it was really an anti-drug song. Anti-partying-your-life-away song perhaps, but not exactly an anti-drug song.

LOL!

That particular refrain is a long-standing joke between my wife and I.

Occasional requests to turn down the thermostat or fetch me a drink are greeted with "F*** you, I won't do what you tell me."

I'm a very lucky man.
