President: The terrorists made it clear they are just waiting for Great Britaian and America to leave Iraq. They are totalitarians. They are Islamic fascists. They want to impose that philosophy on the rest of the world.
Tony has a good point. Why are they resisting so hard? Why don't they like democracy? It's against what they believe. No women's rights. No freedom of religion.
I can undrestand why the American people are troubled by the war in Iraq. But the freedom there will make us more secure and will make a powerful statement in the Middle East.
Blair: Our forces have been there iwth the consent of the Iraqi government. Whatever people thought about removing Saddam, the issue in Iraq hasn't been these people are here without international support, because we had a UN resolution govering our presence there, this Iraqi elected government wants us to stay until the job is done.
So why is it that for 3 years we've had bloodshed. People say you don't understand their culture is different and they don't want freedom. These people went out and voted in higher numbers than your election or mine despite terrorism and bloodshed and literally the prospect of death.
They have kept faith with the democratic values we believe in.
