Watch for pelosi to come out in minutes linking Lay to Bush.
Sic semper tyrannis.
So where will they go? A Country Club like Danbury,CT or to the Real Deal,Marion,IL?
Awesome!
I wonder if the employees and pension funds they fleeced have any chance of recovering any money.
As far as I know Danbury is no country club.
I always thought the defense that there was no fraud was pretty silly.
Isn't it amazing that a jury can quickly convict on a convoluted financial scam while another jury hemmed & hawed in the penalty-phase for a convicted terrorist, Moussaui (sp?). It simply can't be that the terrorism case was more complicated than a high-powered series of fraudulent financial schemes.
I could swear that I've heard that that's where all the VIP's (politicians, etc)went to do easy time.
Or maybe mention Lay's links to the Clinton Aministration and the help Enron got from them in India and the 9 nights Lay spent in the Lincoln bedroom during Clinton's terms....
Oh, nevermind.
Sorry my father-in-law isn't alive to hear the verdict. Enron cost him $200,000 and he never bought a share of their stock (they acquired a perfectly solvent company he already owned then bankrupted it).
It's because of the death penalty that it took so long.
That's an interesting point you made. I wonder why too.
This has been portrayed entirely as "Bush's friend convicted." Not a word about how he's been convicted by the government Bush leads, for crimes committed from Clinton's time.
They tried to do that in '02. They didn't have to dig far before they found out that Clinton had been in bed with them big time and they backed off of it real fast.
This is houston. Responsible citizens go to jury duty and pay attention. I've been two times and both times i had people as equally as conservative as I. Maybe they need to run terror trials here. not in the liberal belly of the beast on the east coast.
I have two friends who worked for Enron and had their retirement savings wiped out. They got some recompensation in dribs and drabs, but just a small fraction of what they lost.
I hope Skilling's and Lay's assets can pay these people back substantially.
