With thousands of Israelis dead from a nuke they would not care how many die in Iran. We killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis in Gulf War I and nobody in this country blinked an eye and they wont over Iran or Syria.

In my view the only reason for statements like this is to dissuade Israel from acting against what is clearly a threat to her existance.

It's not 1991, it's 2006. Hope we don't find out.

I could pull the semi-sane Kennedy's words from the Cuban Missile Crisis out and rehash them slightly...
“It shall be the policy of this nation to regard any nuclear missile launched from any nation against Israel as an attack by that nation and its allies on the United States, requiring a full retaliatory response upon them."

President Bush is not invulnerable as long as there is a possibility that he could hand the Congress to the Dems and the Judiciary to Conyers.

BTW, President Bush or any other president does not have the authority to decide whether or not to go to war. All such wars are unauthorized and unconstitutional.

I'm not whining. I'm just saying the majority of americans don't trust him with this stuff anymore.

Nonsense.

Well that settles it. What makes you think he enjoys strong public confidence on these matters, given he has barely a 35% approval rating on balance?

I dunno if I'm totally wrong, mostly wrong, largely wrong, or fairly right, on this issue.

He is in no position now to lead the American people into another war.

Sure he is. You can sit on your ass on the sidelines, if you prefer, however.

He couldn't convince much more than 30% of the American public that the dubai ports deal was a good idea.

And he wants to lead us into another war.

America will tell him to get lost.

Sorry, just the way it looks to me.

I'm afraid it's reactionary. In the event of any attack on Israel (from Iran) there probably won't be much of it left to aid.

Israel is probably going to have to pre-emptively protect itself against Iran. Are we going to slap their wrist again like we did concerning Iraq in 1981?

I hope not.

I know. You've trashed Bush for months, and now you think the American people will tolerate nuclear weapons being used on a close ally.

You have to say what you're saying to remain consistent, but you're wrong if you don't think Americans and the US Congress would go whole hog on Iran.

My nostradamus-like predictions are based on the president's own statement today. I believe he will do what he has said he will do, because this president does what he says he will do.

Yep, that's exactly what I think. Has nothing to do with Dubya at this point, though.

You're exactly right.

It is similar to

"Hey Israel, we are trying to save the Arab kingdoms, would you mind allowing rockets to be fired at you? Thanks, knew you would. And in return, we will rush Patriot missiles which won't work but, it shows we rush to your defense. And we really hope and pray not too many die when the Rockets land"

And then:

"Hey Israel, Kuwait is Liberated, and we owe you, so here is a the hot poker that will go up your ass unless you show up in Madrid where your surrender to the "Palestinians" begins.

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON

........................

Israel doesn't need the US to rush to its aid. When it does, it's dead.

And if in this day and age, Israel again ever needs emergency supplies from the US as they did in 1973, it will be medical supplies to save whatever Israelis are still alive.

What specifically makes you think Dubya could talk Americans into supporting a third military adventure in the Mid East to avenge the crater that is Tel Aviv?

What military adventure? We'd just ship the Iranians some W-76s and W-88s via Trident Express.

"Trident Express: when it absolutely positively has be vaporized in 15 minutes."

"4 out of 5 admirals surveyed recommend Trident for their submarines that shoot ballistic missiles.
