And, if your "Tel Aviv" crater came to pass, the vast majority of Americans would consider anything longer than the flight time of an ICBM to be dragging our feet. I would hope you are right, but I think you are very wrong. I haven't seen much to convince me that you are right.

I'd be in favor of preemption. Agreed. When someone is reaching for a gun, you shoot him before he can get it out. Or he shoots you.

I think the Arabs will try and nuke Jerusalem. If that happens, kiss Mecca and Medina -- in addition to numerous Islamic population centers -- goodbye.

I agree, and take no pleasure in my evaluation. It's not 1966, and I don't see much evidence that they are close to that kind of dedication, even in defending themselves, in 2006.
I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

I'm not going to engage in some of the retarded rhetoric your post inspired in others. But I think (or maybe I hope) that if we get nuked and we can pin it on someone, there will be a large, smoking crater where they used to be about twenty four hours later.
Why twenty four hours later? To give all good Americans time to stock up on popcorn and beer to watch the show.

While I agree that Israel suffers from some weak leadership and leftist leanings these days, the phrase "never again!" still means something.

Let's face it, it's no secret, they want it ALL.

Lot's of different posters have shown you where you are wrong, and you ignore them. Then you say on almost every post you hope you are wrong.
We get it!!

I share your hope, don't get me wrong. I just have a hard time looking at our culture and seeing the average American getting very animated about avenging Israel in the way some Freepers imagine.
I'd like to think I'm wrong in this case, but I don't think so.

Admirably, HitmanLV has spoken of his/her own opinion in over 30 messages explaining personal opinion of how the DOD, Whitehouse, all American Jews, all Americans, Israel, MSM, 3rd world countries, and many others are going to react. Casting replies as non-factual opinions, while challenging responders to cite specifics is, unfortunately, too nostradamus like for me to participate.

"The Russians and Chinese are onboard with Iran only as long as it serves their interests,"
Yes, I mentioned the tough-talking part, but you are correct in mentioning that their INTERESTS go beyond that; they have economic reasons for doing what they are doing, but they aren't looking for a hot war by any means.
To: sissyjane
No poster has explained specifically why they think the American people would rise and unite to avenge a nuked out Israel. No one has come close. Sorry to point that out.
1/2 of Americans don't even want to follow through on the war in Iran, and haven't for a while. Well, there you go.

I smell what your cookin' JJ. I'd add that USAF/IAF cooperation in military aviation, weapons systems, anti-missile technology and UAV's is another enourmous benefit of the relationship. I've read some authoritative stuff that puts the Arrow anti-missle system way out in front of this field, for eg.
To: sissyjane
Let's put it this way, the words of the Iranian president himself are enough to make any and all sane men shudder. Because anyone who ignores what he and the other Arabs are saying, does so at his own peril.

I am not a Bush-bot, but I will fully support the President on this one.

"I think the Arabs will try and nuke Jerusalem."
I very much doubt that; the Dome of the Rock is there, and it is very important to them that they control Jerusalem as a sign that they have supplanted Judaism and Christianity. No, they'd go for Tel Aviv, a mostly modern city associated in their minds with Sin and the Wicked West.
To: HitmanLV
An unknown aircraft on the wrong flight path and most likely squawking the wrong IFF codes isn't getting into Israeli airspace without the IDF having an opinion about it. Especially if an aircraft has gone missing anywhere in the world.
I'm not saying Israel can't be nuked, but it would be very, very difficult to do it by aircraft. They are on the lookout for such things 24/7.
