No, as with most foreign policy stuff I think he's right.

We must stand by Israel.
I believe that a more concise statement is in order however. I think it should say that "in the event any nation attacks Israel with weapons of mass destruction the United States pledges to respond in kind with both certain and devastating consequences."

The point of no return is fast approaching! I fear the fit will hit the shan over there sometime this summer.

I find the statement rather vague vs 'the Us will consider an attack on Israel as an attack on the US. Come to aid? That can be interpreted many ways.

but I'm sure the anti-Bushbots will find some error in his ways..Was there any point to your flamebait post? Didn't think so. This thread is about foreign policy. Last time I checked it had nothing to do with immigration.
To: Soul Seeker
I didn't mention 'critics of one policy' I said 'anti-Bushbots' which fit in exactly with your 'Pat Buchanan' comment..

My husband, a retired career soldier, always uses that same saying.

I am a so-called, "anti Bushbot" because the man is less conservative than some moderate Demonrats, but I agree on this position. Those who bless Israel, will be blessed; those who curse Israel, will be cursed to live in the stone-age (the Muslim world).

'In the event of any attack on Israel, the United States will come to Israel's aid'... Choice of words is interesting, as it would (purposefully ??) include a retaliatory attack after an Israeli preemptive strike.

Did I mention immigration at all in that post? No... in reality, I was thinking more of the Pat Buchanan/Anti-Israel types who want the US completely isolated...

Hasn't this been American policy for decades?
During the Yom Kippur war, President Nixon had a virtual air bridge of supplies running to Israel.
Now, the only effective way of effecting our policy is to enclose Israel under the American nuclear umbrella -- it would be unthinkable not to.
To: Vision
The Buchananites and isolationists come to mind.

It's been US policy for decades and W has plenty of street cred in the vicinity of Iraq.

I have no problem with it. It's just that I don't believe it. Dubya has no street cred. Just a squinting imp trying to act tough.
You've got to be joking!
