BUSH: 'In the event of any attack on Israel, the United States will come to Israel's aid'...
There is a BIG difference between CAN'T do much (implying the physical inability to do something) and WON'T do much. The President is still the Commander in Chief and, thank God, does not seem to govern based on opinion polls. I think he means what he says, as he usually does, and can easily get the job done polls be damned.
You are so mistaken in your thinking. I don't know how to respond.
I have no faith in that right now, but I hope you are right.
Use that purile adjective to describe the President again and this will be your last thread to post to, got it?
Zell Miller? The guy who voted to give control of the senate to little Tommy Daschle?
If you must use the explitive, say "F - ing", NOT F*CKING WHEN REFERRING TO THE BUSHBOT GOD. Thank you and you will not be banned.
LOL!
He's Commander in Chief of the United States military. That's pretty much all of the "clout" that is required.
As an added bonus, he doesn't have to be distracted by the latest poll numbers or his re-election campaign when making tough decisions on the defense of our allies and our homeland.
Oops, that last sentence may turn this into a "close the border" thread. ;-)
I'm not alone....
Sounds like Bush who gives control of our border to another government. At least Zel gave the control to a US citizen.
Yeah, take advice from someone who can give you good guidance.
Wrong subject. Reading impaired?
Moreover, it would happen before anyone knew what happened.
Here's a guess at what the media (and the rest of us) would see:
-Communications from Tel Aviv cease abruptly
-A few minutes later, indications show that a nuclear weapon went off in the city center
-15 to 20 minutes later, data from USGS website show unusual seismic events in Iran.
-President and some Air Force generals explain via a television broadcast a few hours later that radar detected an unexpected suborbital launch in Iran. Once it was clear that a nuclear attack had occured, certain treaty obligations were invoked and the aggressor was punished in such a way that it will no longer pose a threat.
If we get hit, you can bet your last dime on our response
The nuclear umbrella is the only umbrella that gets the water wet back.
Oh good lord..take it to another thread....frankly I'm sick to damn death of the whining from the close the border crowd.
Has nothing to do with getting elected again. Has everything to do with leadership, and as they say 'he ain't got none!'
For now.
This has been the case since 1979 and a succession of Presidents. If they were fearful of Reagan then they would not have had their Hezbollah surrogates attack our troops in Beirut.
If we were to have instilled the fear of the USA in them , in '83 we should have extracted a big pound of flesh for the Beirut attack and the embassy issue.
The big difference now is their leadership is infatuated with an apocalyptic scenario and the return of the 12th Imam.
As a nation, they're leaders are ready now more than ever to commit national suicide for their delusions.
Plus they are rattling off at the mouth because they don't have the Soviet Union proxy to hide behind. They talk like the punk who is puffing up his chest but inside knows he is about to get his ass whipped.
Iranian tough talk is NOT ABOUT THE PRESIDENT'S POLLS. It is about their awareness we can kick them back to the second century BC. They will be stopped.
