WASHINGTON - The Senate, nearing completion on an immigration overhaul, on Monday strongly endorsed President Bush's plan to deploy the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border.

By an 83-10 vote, senators approved an amendment by Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., that sets parameters for the use of 6,000 National Guardsmen in support of the Border Patrol. Troops would be excluded from "search, seizure, arrest or similar activity" and tours of duty could not exceed 21 days.

The content of Petkus' remarks are pretty accurate. I'd say that he is thinking about the total scope, and projecting what is happening and where we're headed.

Personally, I'm amazed that more people can't see five years down the road which I surmise Petkus is doing.

But silly me, I'm just a dopey business planner and have to think once in a while.

A pathetic mistake made in 1986, I'll bet that's GWB's fault as well. I see the danger, but to blame it on one guy today is using rose colored glasses, like all you border trolls do, take them off and see the real picture. Where was clinton when he was being serviced by a cigar, where was everyone else. Clinton knew something like 9-11 was going to happen, yet he was too interested in 'other' things. You trolls can't lay all this in Bush. Bush is adressing it, not to your liking, but he's addressing better than Reagan did. Get your talking points in line, and then maybe we'll be able to agree. This is not one administration's doing.

W caved to the libs before he even knew how things are turning out. When I negotiate business deals, I always ask more than what I expect to get from the proposition.

W could have whacked this situation by just saying that "we are going to enforce the law." Instead these dopey politicians just love to flap their gums in an attempt to destroy this country. Very few of them are responsible and accountable for their actions.

The Constitution Party is more of my way of thinking.

Take what you can and build on it. For goodness sake, don't throw in the towel, two steps forward, one step back.

Off a cliff or into the quick sand?

Pathetic idiots who think they understand politics shouldn't be allowed to play on the computer.

Ok, brilliant, just tell everyone that disagrees with you to say home and not vote. Tell me where did you get your many degree's from?

"Troops would be excluded from 'search, seizure, arrest or similar activity'..."
So what're they supposed to do"? Play wi... Oops! Sorry.
"...and tours of duty could not exceed 21 days."
Why bother to send them down there at all?

The politicians in Washington must be brain dead.

They had better wake up and pay attention to the American people. Their fury and outrage cut across party lines!

There is truth in what you say. However, do not abandon the Republicans of sound judgment, and do not give your support de facto or by default to the Democrats. The Democrats are FAR WORSE!

So let's say Bush says, from here on out, all illegals will be rounded up, deported or jailed, we're building fences and having military every 500 feet. Doesn't the senate and house have to approve it? Do you honestly think the senate will approve it and do honestly think there is enough votes in the senate to stand with the pres? We don't have a real majority in the senate, but to blame bush is really a straw man, last resort argument, where the intellect meets the road rubber. The bottom line is, we didn't elect enough conservative to the senate. That's what's holding up everything. Be honest, and look at what's really the problem. If we had a real senate majority, instead of rinos, the pres would be a hell of alot different. But, I'm just a bush bot and don't understand all the intricacies of politics.

I sure as hell do not trust him.............Nothing like closing the barn door after Bessy gets out and runs. He *should* have sealed off the borders after 9/11. As a matter of national security. That was FIVE years ago. Now, He's looking for votes to keep a Republican house and senate? Where was he ........then?
I said on a thread yesterday....WHY did we invade Iraq? Bin Laden is NOT there. I know the middle east was a good move, as far as future security goes, But it sure is a hornets nest.

Sometimes, The damel in distress does NOT want to be rescued. Then you move down the railroad tracks, and try to find the really bad guy.
I recently moved from Manchester, NH to a smaller town. Do you all have ANY idea how many Mexicans live there now? All with Texas/Bama plates. Want to know how much Corona sales went up? How many beer bottles littered the road? The drunken Brawls? Mexicans wizzing on the light poles? Taking jobs a family man might need?
I'm sorry...........my grandparents emmigrated from Lithuania in 1918. But, they came in LEGAL. Through Ellis island.
and............................they spoke...ENGLISH.
Welcome to mexamerica........home of the brave beer drinkers, land of the wiz where I need to Mexicans.
God bless America, She needs it...

Yes, and the other day I got an email from a person who claimed he was really a chicken. I think I'll believe the chicken story.

You know the current high school kids cannot tell the difference between an 05 an an 06, but you have to give them credit if they know they are numbers.
