Believe me, the phrasing's similiarity to Augustine's autobiography is purely coincidental. The latter also led a debauched life and went onto greatness. McGreevey led the same but in secret and he fell from prominence to disgrace. And he wants us to revel in his human weaknesses as opposed to the north African saint's celebration of the good he could be. Then again, our time has no use for any one who isn't notorious.

Amen. I'll be heading south from New England in a few weeks, and I will be trying to 'hold it' all the way to Virginia. Wish my wife similar luck...

Dude, it happens everywhere. If you're that concerned, I'd add every populous state to your list. So that's the entire east and west coasts and most of the midwest. North Dakota rest stops are prolly safe, but then, the more remote rest stops often resemble outhouses, presenting their own set of disgusting issues.
