I read elsewhere that his special visit home during Katrina w/National Guard escort was a probably connected to the hidden cash.
I'm sure others pointed that out though. I just heard it this morning.

Congressman Jefferson used a National Guard truck to check on his flooded house and remove three suitcases and a large box from his house. He was inside the house alone for an hour while he forced the Guard troops to wait on the porch.

What do you suppose was in those three suitcases and the box? What could be worth taking that kind of risk?
