Democrats signal oversight of Bush would increase. Probes by Congress may be in the cards

Michigan Democrat Rep. John Conyers Jr.'s Web site features his call for investigations of the U.S. invasion of Iraq and President Bush's authorization of wiretapping without court warrants.
Conyers says either could justify Bush's impeachment or censure.
It is one of numerous demands by frustrated Democrats, out of power in Congress for several years, for investigations of the Bush administration.
But with the growing prospect that they could regain control of at least the House in the November elections, Democratic leaders are signaling that they intend to increase oversight of the White House if they win a majority and use their subpoena power to put the administration on the griddle.
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California has indicated that high energy prices, faulty intelligence used to justify the Iraq war and the National Security Agency's surveillance program would be investigated.

"There were a number of Republicans defeated in primaries and some conservatives are very happy about it, totally ignoring that this put the seat in play for the Dems. "
I read that post last night.
# 1. A lot of those seats are not even for the US congress.
And # 2, where some RINOS have been defeated in the Republican primaries, over immigration, fired up Republicans are merely going to turn up in record numbers to vote for the New Republican candidates who are strong on immigration enforcement.
Plus there are plenty of RATS, especially blacks, who are as much against the flood of illegal Mexican invaders as anyone else and may not even vote for RATS candidates that are soft on immigration.
Its win win for the Republicans.
Next?

"eally, that explains why the average Joe recognizes that, "
The "average Joe" as you call it, recognizes that the economy is doing great when consumer confidence figures keep going UP
"because you say so"
Nope. Because the figures say so. 4.8 GDP growth, high productivity growth, highest home ownership rates in US history, highest industrial output for decades, very high job creation figures, creation of millions of high income jobs...and it goes on and on.

As at today, and over the past 5 years since 9/11, President Bush has indeed been the world's best hope aginst the scourge of Islamic terrorism.

if the RATS take control of congrass (correct spelling) the first item on their agenda will be W's impeachment, if anyone thinks differently they are extremely naive. their second item will be to do everything possible to lose the war in iraq, which in their convoluted brains is a great victory.

President Bush is at his best when he is clear and determined, like right after 9/11.
I remember an interview that O'Reilly did with him right before the 2004 election. O'Reilly said something about the media and Bush laughed nervously and said something like, I'm not going to pick a fight with the media.
He seemed afraid. The media started after him big time with the 9/11 hearings and it's been non-stop since then. He has to let them know there will be consequences for their attacks. They sense weakness.

DBM/Dems you want investigations? Bring it on!!!!These people are so stupid right now they don't know S*** from Shinola. There is no outcry from the public to investigate/impeach Bush except from the hate Bush crowd. The majority of Americans are smart enough to understand what Bush is doing agree with it!!
The BDM/dems have NOTHING to run on, they're clueless, powerhungry, hatefilled prix!

Yep.
Expecting anything else from the RATS is like whistling in the wind.
They are totally bereft of workable ideas, contenting themselves instead with spewing out "I hate Bush" screams.
That about sums up all the ideas the RATS have come up with over the past 6 years.

Basically, we need to either get rid of the dem party, or split the country up. The present situation is basically untenable.

"People who are so anxious to see Republican incumbents defeated, better consider that they are giving the Dems a better chance to take over Congress in November, and they are all set to thwart President Bush's efforts to protect us from the terrorists."
What is happening today goes well beyond politics and vying for office. The Dems are driven by pure, unadulterated Hate and Rage.
This is not politics, rather, it is the crumbling of the political edifice that has defined the American system for most of its life.
A nation in times this perilous with a party acting and thinking IN ALL SERIOUSNESS as the Dems are doing is literally only months away from catastrophe.

I hope you're right. I am a big supporter, but I've become somewhat demoralized this last year.

With all of the negativism from all sides, it is really easy to get down. Maybe you just need a break from politics.

The media started attacking President Bush big time during the 9/11 hearings?
Who knew?
And here I was thinking they had been attacking President Bush non-stop since during the campaign against Algore and during the Florida re-count.
Did it occur to you that President Bush was not too worried about the media in that O'Reilly interview, just before the elections in 2004, because he was fairly confident he was going to clobber Hanoi John Kerry, liberal media or not?
