You might be right, but I'd never be convinced by your posting. You offer one example in Europe, which is hardly very convincing, and then say, trust me on America. It's just more subtle.

I'll admit I can't prove it---with any number of postings. The external evidence is just not there. I believe however, this is because the Russians have learned to be so careful.
In a book by Suvorov, at GRU defector to Britain, he describes how the Germans found one Russian spy in World War II---and use that single spy to roll up a large part of their entire European network. Then Suvorov describes how compartmentalized Soviet intelligence became by the time he was a part of it. His books started to be published in the mid-1980s, I don't believe he gives dates for his service in the GRU.
Of course, there is Ann Coulter's book Treason that completely debunks the myth of "McCarthyism"---and proves that during the 1950s, the Soviets were in fact infiltrating America's government and society.
There is also evidence to show this was happening before the 1960s.
But in the 1960s, the trail goes cold. Something called the New Left formed. John Kerry was part of the New Left. Hillary Clinton was part of the New Left. But part of the fundamental idea of the New Left was that it had absolutely no connection to the Soviet Union.
Personally, I believe this is bogus, but I'll admit I can't prove it.
Thanks for least admitting I might be right.
