IMO Bush should halt all immigration and all citizenship, and call for a nation wide vote.
Now why on earth would he do that?

I mean, seriously -- he knows what he wants. He makes no secret of it.

And, he's getting it!

So why on earth would he screw things up for himself by asking what WE want?

Remember -- what we ("The People") want isn't any secret either.

The main thing to keep in mind is that we have no political power. Once you realize how totally inert you are as a political force in this country, it makes it easier to take this kind of stuff in stride.

We like to think of ourselves as "the base", but we're only half correct. There are actually TWO "bases" -- the "voting base" (that's us) -- and the "Money Base", comprised of the various lobbyists, "interests", and other deep-pocketed denizens of the Countryclub and The Hallowed Halls.

The "Money Base" has the ear of the Party. They've got the political power. When they talk, DC listens.

Us, on the other hand... we're good for one thing, and one thing only. The message to us boils down to something like, "Shut Up And VOTE!"

The Party doesn't really see any need to earn our votes, because from their perspective, they already OWN our votes.

If we step too far out of line, they'll just crank up the pressure, spook us into "voting for the lesser of two evils". ("You traitor! What are you trying to do, get Hillary elected? You cannot criticize your leaders, you cannot play any 'holding their feet to the fire' games. You must SHUT UP, and you must VOTE! And you know HOW to vote, don't you?")

And, the campaign (to coin a phrase) will work. Maybe not on the likes of you and a few others here, but by and large, it'll work on most of the "voting base", and they'll be duly intimidated, scolded into obedience, and, by their actions they will confirm that The Party really DOES own their votes.

So that's how I see it going down.

And that's why the last thing I ever see happening is a "vote" to allow "the people" to put the kibosh to this thing now that they've finally got things to where they can sucessfully ram it down our throats once and for all.

You ever get the feeling we are being funneled toward a civil war or at the very least civil unrest?

Everything being done is designed to build frustration and rage in the backbone of this country.

Honestly , no one is this stupid, there has to be some kind of design behind destroying this country from within through its own institutions.

The decision on immigration is too important to leave to the politicians who have enormous pressures on them.

The decision belongs to the people.

The people MUST vote on this.
