What you'd be left with is a U.N. dominated by Russia and China, leading around a pack of bloody dictators... All of them anti-American.

That's a recipe for disaster. As it is, both Russia and China have to build their extra-marital relationships outside the confines of the U.N. and thus their attempts lack the legitimacy that even a reduced U.N. would lend. Given the direction of the EU, much of the so-called civilized socialist countries in Europe will remain part of the U.N., and further tilt the scales against us.

We need to use the U.N., rather than let them use us. For that, we need to keep Republicans in the White House who have a strong disdain of the world body, but also a deep distrust that extends to keeping the U.N. as close as possible so we can check them whenever possible. I don't doubt that Bush knew about the corruption of the Oil for Food program prior to proposing to invade Iraq as part of the WoT. Actually, I'm pretty sure he was briefed on it right after taking office, since Clinton had to have known too.

The U.N. must be kept a close eye on, and that means keeping them where they are so we can ride herd on them. The only problems arise when we elect a foreign policy push over like Clinton or Carter. A simple fact that we're going to have to prevent in the future by supporting the next closest conservative candidate regardless of how much we disagree with him or her.

You make some good points. I've been in favor of kicking the UN out of the US because they infringe on our Constitutional sovereignty, but I've never looked at it this way before.

That sounds like what we have now.

Sorry my FRiend, but the U.N. is as useless as it's predecessor the League of Nations, it is an international cesspool which breeds nothing but anti-Americanism. The U.N. is in fact, a national security risk just being permitted to reside on U.S. soil. They should have been evicted yesterday.

If the U.S. were to pull out of the U.N., it would collapse for two basic reasons:

a.) Our allies would withdraw, rather than to continue to participate in the scam perpetrated upon the world by the con men who run the U.N.,

b.) Russia and China are quite frankly too cheap to pick up the slack for the billions of dollars that would suddenly be missing from the U.N.'s bloated budget, after the U.S. withdrawal.

And if those two reasons are not enough, there is a third reason which is that the United States would very likely form a new alliance of civilized nations, which would exclude the rag tag (and rag headed) tyrannies of the Middle East, the dwindling Communist outposts, and other malcontents.

The criteria for the members of such a new organization should be:

1.) Fair and free elections must be held on a regular basis.

2.) Freedom of expression for all citizens.

3.) Freedom of (not FROM) religion must be permitted.

4.) Fair trade policies (not 'FREE', but FAIR) must be established.

5.) Any previous advocacy of genocide against any other nation must be disavowed and condemned (i.e., member nations will have cordial diplomatic relations with Israel or else they don't get in.)

A new organization like that would help preserve Western civilization, uphold the rights of the individual (as opposed to the Communistic/Fascist approach of the U.N.), and would be a force for truly keeping the peace because the U.S. would be footing the bill, and the Golden Rule would apply:

"He who has the gold, makes the rules."

In other words:

And there lies the problem. Conservatives will not hold the White House forever as well as the Congress. The next Klinton/Karter that is in the White House will use the UN and their treaties to subvert and eliminate the Bill of Rights (e.g. the UN position on a global gun ban, or another insane Kyoto treaty). The UN without the US is nothing more than a country club of dictators and an organization without any teeth.

Britain, Austrailia, and someother Democracies/Republics will also leave the UN if the US leaves.

Global trade organizations will be the new UN type organization and without the UN in the US, our enemies will have one less method to insert their spies in the US.
