Mexicans get jobs that they won't allow anyone else to take from them.

On some coffee farms in the Pacific, Mexican bean pickers will hustle and fill 4 to 5 coffee bags a day, each bag weighing about 60 lbs.

They get paid $100 per bag which equates to over $100,000 a year.

Should anyone else try to get one of those jobs, the Mexican gangs will fight them.

But the Mexican coffee farm workers get paid in cash with a 1099 sent in to comply with the law. They never get FICA withheld from their pay and in fact there is no withholding. They are considered independent contractors.

Now here is a question:

For Americans who want coffee farm jobs but are barred by Mexican gangs, should the American government favor the American worker over the Mexican worker because the American will pay taxes whereas the Mexican will not bother to file?

Here is another question:

How many Freepers out there who are American citizens would like to work in the tropics, pick coffee beans all day and earn $150,000 a year with 6 weeks off time?

I think I'd rather own the coffee farm!

Not a bad gig, if you have a paramilitary security detail. I'll bet I could scrape together some Freepers...hmmmmm
